How to Make Guardian Angel and St. George Plush Dolls

1. Order fabric at Spoonflower.com (links below)

    Large Guardian Angel (12")

  • order one fat quarter to complete one doll
  • there are four dolls per yard
  • Petal Signature Cotton, Organic Cotton Sateen, and Minky are great fabric options

    Mini Guardian Angel (6")

  • order one test swatch to complete one doll
  • there are 20 mini dolls per yard of Petal Signature Cotton (42" wide fabric)

    St. George (12")

  • order one fat quarter to complete one doll
  • there are four dolls per yard
  • Petal Signature Cotton, Organic Cotton Sateen, and Minky are great fabric options

2. When your fabric arrives, wash it on gentle cycles with phosphate free detergent, dry it on a gentle cycle, and iron it on the appropriate setting for the fabric type.

3. Cut out the front and back along the edge of the doll's design.

4. Place the two pieces right sides together with the edges aligned and pin.

5. Sew around the edge with a 1/4 to 3/8" seam allowance, backstitching at the beginning and end, and leaving a turning and stuffing hole about 2-3" wide on the bottom.

6. Clip the concave curves with a "V" and snip the convex curves perpendicular to the stitching, being careful not to clip any stitches.

7. Turn the doll right side out using the hole on the bottom. Poke out the corners and the seams with a chopstick. Iron smooth.

8. Stuff the angel with fiber fill (hypoallergenic polyester recommended, about 4 ounces for 12" dolls, and about 0.5 ounces for 6" dolls).

9. Sew the turning/stuffing hole closed using a blind stitch.

Enjoy!
